Scope and Content Note

Material related to the provision of public health services in St. Croix County, 1936-2015. The records include health committee meeting minutes, 1936-1955, 1961, 1974-2015; financial records, 1943-1967; a manual for nurses, circa 1952-1962; pamphlets and brochures an various public health issues, 1948-1952; and a scrapbook of newspaper clippings, 1972-1974. The health committee minutes record the activities of the Health Department, and later minutes detail noteworthy cases that the staff treated (names are omitted). Financial records detail yearly budgets and income/disbursements. The Manual of Public Health Nursing in St. Croix County outlines procedures and contains information on various diseases and health agencies, as well as sample forms for the nurse to fill out. The Health Guidance folder model is an example of folders given to teachers in which they are expected to record referrals to county nurses, vision test results, and other health-related information. The Pamphlet folder contains examples of pamphlets given to parents, teachers, and public nurses. Also included in this folder are lists of institutions for the developmentally disabled and hospitals for expectant mothers. The scrapbook is titled "Comprehensive Health Planning" and contains newspaper clippings related to various hospitals, clinics, and health programs in St. Croix County.
