Part 1 (2001/069, Audio 1662A; VHA 531) Original Collection, 1969-1995 (bulk 1970-1980) 6.4 cubic feet (6 record center cartons and 1 archives box), 141 tape recordings, 5 videorecordings, and 136 transparencies : These records include radio and TV public service announcement (PSA) scripts (especially the “Informed Consumer” series), and other programming materials; press releases, the “Informed Consumer” and “Consumer Alert” print columns, and records on consumer protection slide presentations; and general administrative files, especially records on consumer organizations, conferences and conventions, and special projects undertaken by the Office of Consumer Protection. Also included is correspondence of Consumer Information Coordinator Franny Van Nevel, 1984-1989; and records of Program and Information Coordinator Peg Schmitt, 1988-1994, including records on fraud against the elderly, and records on a product advertising and labeling campaign. Non-paper materials with this accession include audio recordings of “Protection Connection” PSAs, 1977-1983 and 1991-1995, and various other PSAs and consumer protection-related programs; transparencies and audio accompaniments for the slide presentations mentioned above; and videorecordings of PSAs produced in 1993 for television broadcast.
