Part 29 (2008/030): Additions, 1993-2000 10.0 cubic feet (10 records center cartons) : Central files, 2000, primarily focusing on the provision of protective and medical services to children, the elderly, the disabled and the mentally ill, and related subject files from the division administrator's office, 1993-2000. During the period documented in the latter file the name of the division became the Division of Supportive Living. The central files document a wide range of services that were provided through a host of community-based programs that generally followed the case management model. Particularly well documented is the transition of the Milwaukee Bureau of Child Welfare from a county to a state agency, the development of state-county service contracts, and the redesign of long-term care. The office files of division administrators Gerald Born and Sinnaka McCabe are similar in content although they contain more information about the application of information technology to the division's data collection functions and to internal budgetary and organizational matters. Numerous files detail financial disputes between counties and the state over nursing home charges.
