Part 10 (2007/058): Additions, 2001 16.4 cubic feet (16 records center cartons and 1 flat box) : Annual subject files, 2001, of George Lightbourn, secretary of the Department of Administration, as well as additional files covering his tenure as assistant director, 1990-1998. The secretary's subject files are arranged in the same classified system that characterized earlier annual accessions from the office, and they document similar subjects, with the Tobacco settlement, the Madison Gas and Electric plant on the University of Wisconsin campus, and the Green Bay Packer stadium among the most significant new topics. This section also includes chronological correspondence of George Lightbourn, George Bugher (his predecessor), and Linda Seemeyer (his deputy). This file consists only of outgoing letters, and it has been extensively weeded to remove confidential personnel items and routine letters. Documents for 2001 received by Lightbourn as a member of the State Investment Board that are in box 17 may be discarded when the official files for that year are received. The pre-secretarial subject files cover many topics, but they relate primarily to Lightbourn's oversight responsibility for state construction projects such as the Kohl Center and the DOA Administration Building and his representation of DOA on various committees such as the Taliesin Preservation Commission (1990-1994) and the Wisconsin Advanced Technology Board. There are also extensive files on construction projects such as Monona Terrace and the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee.
