This collection was received in, and is organized in, multiple parts. Additional materials
have not been physically or intellectually arranged and interfiled, and researchers may need
to consult more than one part of the collection to locate similar materials.
The collection is organized into the following series:
-
General Files, 1956-2014
-
Web Archives, 2009-2017
The physical arrangement of the files reflects the various accessions of vice
chancellor's/provost's files received by the Archives. Boxes 1-34 contain files acquired
prior to 1993. Boxes 34-35 contain files located after the first series was processed. The
records in these series consist mainly of files created between 1956 and 1979. Boxes 35-115
contain files transferred to the Archives in 1993 (accession 1993-008), which consist mainly
of records created between 1980 and 1992. Boxes 116-118 contain unclassified personnel
records. Boxes 119-132 consist of files created between 1985 and 2004. Boxes 133-152 consist
of files created between 2004-2011.
Files are organized alphabetically by personal name, name of office, or by subject, then
chronologically. In addition to the normal chronological files, the provost's office often
maintained files containing specialized information regarding a particular topic. For the
sake of simplicity, such files are located after the chronological files.
The files contain a variety of materials, including correspondence, committee records,
staff memoranda, and reports. In most cases, committee records can be found under:
- Ad Hoc Committee on ...
- Committee on ...(name)
- [Name] Committee
The collection contains three additional accessions.
