The Dept. of Speech Pathology and Audiology was established in 1973 within the College of
Letters & Science. Prior to 1973 speech pathology and audiology programs existed within
the College of Letters & Science's Dept. of Communication (1967-1975) and before 1967 as
part of the Dept. of Speech. In 1975, when the School of Allied Health Professions was
created, the Dept. of Speech Pathology and Audiology came under the administrative structure
of the school. In 1990 the department's name was changed to the Dept. of Communication
Sciences and Disorders.
