Wisconsin. Legislature. Assembly. Committee on State Affairs: Records, 1967-1988

Scope and Content Note

The series consists of records, 1967-1971, transferred to the Archives as three accessions which apply to the chairmanship of Bernard Lewison, Alvin Baldus, and John R. Plewa. Supplementing this is material presented by Bernard Lewison as a manuscript accession. Included are verbatim transcripts and recordings of meetings and public hearings, memoranda, correspondence, statements, and exhibits. Reflecting the committee's wide ranging responsibility, there are files on drug abuse, gun control, Project Sanguine, rock concerts, the University of Wisconsin building program, and U.S. membership in the United Nations. The latter includes a very large exhibit on world government prepared by the Committee to Restore the Constitution. Arrangement is alphabetical by subject within chronological periods generally corresponding to legislative sessions. There are no transcripts for the tapes in the collection.
