Records of the Wisconsin Legislature Joint Committee to Study Disruptions at the University of Wisconsin, 1969

Scope and Content Note

The records consist of transcripts of public hearings held by the committee, the committee report to the Legislature, and minority reports. Transcripts of public hearings date from March to June 1969, and are arranged chronologically. There are minutes rather than transcripts for the meeting of April 23. The committee report to the Legislature, dated October 14, 1969, is reprinted from the Senate Journal. Although the report speaks of an appendix, which includes a chronology of principal events in the February 1969 disruption, an index of exhibits, legislative recommendations, and a letter from Madison mayor William Dyke, this was not reprinted along with the report. Also included are minority reports submitted by Assemblyman Stanley York, October 23, 1969, and Senator Carl Thompson, November 15, 1969. Assemblyman York's report was incorporated into the committee report.
