Scope and Content Note

Schedules include agricultural schedules showing names of farm operators and land, crop, and livestock statistics; mortality schedules showing names of persons who died during the census year with causes of death; products of industry schedules showing statistics on manufactured products; and social statistics schedules showing schools, churches, libraries, and other institutions in each county.

Schedules for the tenth census (1880) also include population schedules listing the name of each person in the household, personal description, occupation, health, education and nativity; manufacturing schedules showing manufacturers and labor, operation, material, and product statistics; and a supplemental schedule of defective, dependent, and delinquent classes listing the insane, idiots, deaf mutes, blind, homeless children, prisoners, and paupers and indigents in institutions.

Also included are the above schedules for the seventh through ninth census (1850, 1860, 1870), bound together with the population schedules for each census.
