UWGB Veterans Club Records, 1969-1987

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of materials associated with the organization and activities of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Veterans Club (1969-1987). Records largely relate to fundraising efforts and planned activities, such as the annual Hawaiian Punch party, Bayfest, Casino events, and Veterans Day observances. Club minutes and newsletters are limited but offer some insight into the group’s organization and efforts. Likewise, various versions and revisions of the club constitution (1970-1986) demonstrate changes in membership practices, benefits, and structure. Club correspondence is scarce and generally consists of communication to Wisconsin representatives regarding veterans’ benefits and planned events.

Further aspects of interest pertain to UW-Green Bay’s Inter-Organizational Association and campus Children’s Center. These documents reveal collaboration among various campus organizations to plan shared activities and joint fundraising. Of particular note are the Children’s Center materials, which document cooperative efforts between the Veterans Club and other campus organizations to fund ongoing care of the facilities and directly assist in the improvement of a playground.

Other limited documentation relates to veterans benefit policies, financial records, and membership recruitment.

One small folder contains enlarged black and white copies of photographs. The majority are unidentified and all are undated.

Three scrapbooks document various club activities and veterans’ concerns (e.g. Vietnam, legislation, etc.) through photographs, leaflets, newspaper clippings, and some university correspondence.
