UW-Green Bay College of Creative Communications: Louise Witherell Records, 1966-1971

Biography/History

Louise Witherell was born April 18, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in French at the University of Toledo-Ohio in 1940, and then went on to earn her M.A. and Doctorate degree in French at the University of Wisconsin. Witherell started as an Associate Professor of French at the UW Fox Valley Center in 1968 and joined the new four-year UW-Green Bay campus when it was established in 1969. She served as a Professor for UW-Green Bay’s College of Creative Communications where she taught French classes in the Language and Literature program until she retired on May 27, 1990. Throughout her tenure at UW-Green Bay, Witherell served on campus committees in various capacities. She died January 16, 2018 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
