General correspondence with state and local officials and the public concerning requests for informal and formal opinions from the Attorney General, approvals of municipal land issues, and loans to municipalities and school districts from state funds and escheated estates. Copies of unpublished opinions are also included. Correspondence for 1887 and 1892 is missing. Also included are a lithograph of James S. Brown, the first Attorney General; two unidentified portraits, and a printing plate of Andrew Scott Sloan, eleventh Attorney General.
