Wisconsin. Office of the Commissioner of Insurance: Annual Statements of Insurance Companies - Domestic and Foreign, 1899-1980

Arrangement of the Materials

These reports were arranged by the Insurance Commission by year, thereunder by type of company, and thereunder alphabetically by name of company. However, they were grouped in various categories over the years and were bound and filmed in various orders. The Reel List which follows consistently lists life insurance companies first, then fire, then casualty, then fraternal, with other categories which existed only for some of the years interspersed where it seemed most logical.

Each category is sub-divided into “Foreign,” meaning companies organized under the laws of other states, and “Wisconsin,” meaning companies organized under the laws of Wisconsin. Companies from foreign countries in some years have their own sub-division and in others are interfiled with the “Foreign” reports.

An exception to the above arrangement are the reports for 1955 through 1959 which are arranged only by year and thereunder alphabetically.
