Twentieth Century Club Records

Historical Note

The Twentieth Century Club was organized in 1901 by a group of women who left the Women's Fortnightly Club of La Crosse (1896-1901). The early Twentieth Century Club was concerned with providing better library facilities and improved education for La Crosse residents. It took over and continued to maintain the travelling library started by the Fortnightly Club. The Twentieth Century Club moved from social activism and community service to a focus of intellectual stimulation and social activity for its members in later years. The last known year for the club's existance is 1982.
