Home Culture Club Records, 1904-1979

Biography/History

The Home Culture Club began meeting in the farm home of Ada Bliss in 1904. The group sought to gain further knowledge in history, literature, English, the arts, geography and other subjects. Their motto in 1907 became “No Quest - No Conquest.” The group met twice monthly with membership growing to 25 by 1908. The club was also active in community activities, including organizing the River Falls Laundry, a circulating library, and maintaining a room at the city's hospital. As the years passed and schooling became more accessible, the women devoted their meetings to book reviews.
