Papers of a former Republican congressman (1961-1964 and 1967-1970) and Congregational minister from Burlington, Wisconsin. The papers consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports, clippings, press releases, newsletters, speeches, bills, and clippings concerning legislative initatives and issues with which Schadeberg was prominently involved such as pornography, lakeshore erosion and pollution, support of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, and governmental fiscal restraint. Project files document his work in behalf of the development of Bong Air Force Base, the retention of the Racine Coast Guard Station, Wisconsin mink ranchers, and other district concerns. The papers are limited on Schadeberg's first two terms in Congress and, except for scattered references, do not document his career as a minister or his election campaigns. Access to information in the collection is facilitated by internal name and subject indexes. English
