Henry Dorman Papers, 1973-1978

Scope and Content Note

This small collection consists entirely of records pertaining to two committee assignments of Senator Henry Dorman for the Joint Legislative Council: the Special Committee on Court Reorganization and the Native American Study Committee. Included are correspondence and memoranda, summary proceedings and agenda, and information. Files on the Native American Study Committee are more extensive and valuable, as they supplement the Society's earlier holdings on the Menominee Indian Study Committee. Correspondence here includes Dorman's own mail as well as xeroxed letters and memos circulated to the committee for informational purposes. A few letters concern his participation in a Task Force on Indian Affairs for the National Conference of State Legislators. Files on the Special Committee on Court Reorganization have been extensively weeded because they largely duplicate in the collection of James T. Flynn, chairman of the committee. Retained are Dorman's correspondence and a file of unintroduced legislation.
