Subseries: 5H. School of Geographical Surveying and Field Astronomy,
1920-1933 : This department, headed by Alexander Hamilton Rice from 1920-1931, was
created to train students in the practice and theory of topographical
surveying and astronomy. While the school closed in 1931, students were
still occasionally taught in the early 1930s as the school was
reorganized and split into two departments: Maps & Surveys and
Exploration & Field Research. This subseries contains general files
from the school and its work.
