State Historical Society of Wisconsin. Office of Local History: Photographs, circa 1900-2000

Scope and Content Note

Contemporary photographs and color transparencies documenting activities of the Office of Local History and the Wisconsin Council for Local History, as well as copy negatives and original prints of historical images used in cooperative local history exhibits. Documentation is best for Wisconsin regional history conventions and tours during the 1960s and 1970s, for observances of the sesquicentennial of Wisconsin statehood in 1996, and for the cooperative exhibits on which the office staff worked. Copy negatives of historical images are most numerous for the “Coasts of Wisconsin,” “Coming to Madison (by African Americans),” “Culture and Agriculture,” and the Drummond exhibits. Unfortunately, these images are not further identified, nor have the rights been secured by the Historical Society.
