Biography/History
Kyle Charles Kenyon was born March 22, 1924, in Wyeville, Wisconsin. He graduated from rural elementary school and Tomah High School in 1942. In 1943, he joined the army and was honorably discharged in 1946. Kenyon was an active member of the Monroe County World War II veterans' organization. From 1954 to 1966, he served as Monroe County Veterans Service Officer. In 1952, Kenyon received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, and became a practicing attorney. In 1956, he was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly to represent Monroe County. His career as a state assemblyman lasted for sixteen years. In 1972, he left the legislature and returned to his law practice. Kyle Kenyon died in 1996.
During his terms as a state representative, Kenyon held important leadership positions within the Republican Party and served as chairman, vice-chairman, co-chairman, and a member of sixteen assembly committees. He served as Secretary of the Republican Caucus, Assistant Minority Leader, and Acting Republican Leader. Kenyon was a member of the following assembly committees: Budget and Government Operations, Commercial Code, Ethics and Conflicts of Interests, Excise and Fees, Insurance, Insurance and Banking, Insurance Law Revision, Judiciary, Wisconsin-Minnesota Boundary, Reactivation of Camp McCoy, Remedial Legislation, Rules, Transportation, Uniform Consumer Credit Code and Veterans and Military Affairs. Kenyon chaired the following assembly committees: Insurance and Banking, Insurance, Remedial Legislation Committee, and Veterans and Military Affairs. He was vice-chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and Rules Committee. Kenyon also co-chaired the Uniform Consumer Code Committee.
