Milton B. Freudenheim Papers, 1947-1978

Biography/History

Milton B. Freudenheim, 1927-, worked as a journalist for the Courier-Journal in Louisville, Kentucky from 1948-1949, and the Akron Beacon Journal in Akron, Ohio from 1950-1952. From 1956-1966, Freudenheim worked as the United Nations and New York correspondent for the Chicago Daily News. In 1966, he became a foreign news editor for the Chicago Daily News. He worked as the Chief of Foreign Services in Paris until 1977.

The Chicago Daily News was an independent newspaper founded in 1875 as an afternoon paper geared toward working people. The newspaper became unprofitable due to the competition with television news programs during the 1970s and finally closed on March 4, 1978.
