Schomer Lichtner (1905-2006), was born in Illinois but resided in Wisconsin much of
his life. He studied in New York, Chicago and Milwaukee. Early in his career, he
produced work for the Federal Works Progress Administration art program. He was
married to artist Ruth Grotenrath (1912-1988) and taught at the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee. In the later years of his life, Lichtner lived in Shorewood,
Wisconsin.
