Robert H. Segal Papers, 1945-1971

Scope and Content Note

The Segal script files were donated to the Mass Communications History Center at the Wisconsin Historical Society in 1983 by Professor J. Fred McDonald as part of a large personal library of material on contemporary culture. It is not clear when or how McDonald acquired them from Segal.

The scripts are arranged alphabetically by series title with the holdings on the Jewish Theological Seminary's Eternal Light being the most extensive. Segal was featured on many of these programs as cantor. These files have been compared to holdings in the radio script files in the National Broadcasting Company Records held by the Historical Society and all duplicates eliminated. On other documented programs Segal was variously writer, producer, or director. Only a few scripts bear annotations or emendations.
