Somerset Hills PEACE Records, 1970-1980

Biography/History

Somerset Hills PEACE was a small organization of women from a four-county area of New Jersey formed on April 15, 1970, to oppose U.S. involvement in the war in Vietnam. Although the records reveal little about the activities and affiliations of the group, it seems to have been chiefly oriented toward public education and fund-raising in behalf of the victims of the war. Unlike many of the liberal groups formed as a result of the war, Somerset Hills PEACE continued its activist involvement after the signing of the accords and turned its attention to a host of peace-related foreign and domestic issues.
