Records of the Bricklayers, Masons, and Plasterers International Union of America (BMPIUA), an international labor union representing workers in brick, block, and stone laying, plastering, masonry, and related trades. During the period covered by the bulk of these records, its history was characterized by efforts to work with employer and joint union-employer groups (such as the Associated General Contractors, the Mason Contractors Association, the Structural Clay Products Institute, and the National Joint Board for Settlement of Jurisdictional Disputes) to promote the construction industry and solve labor-management problems, and by jurisdictional conflicts with the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' International Association and other building trades unions. Also included is historical information regarding the Bricklayers International Union, the BMPIUA's predecessor. English
