The Sidney D. Wells Papers, 1904-1953, include correspondence, technical reports, reprints of his writings, patents and accounts of the operations they cover, and paper samples. All materials concern his professional rather than personal activities and they are concentrated in the 1920's and 1930's. The materials are organized in two alphabetical files: a correspondence file and a subject file, with the folder titles primarily those designated by Wells himself. Researchers should be cautioned that the technicality of the terminology has discouraged a critical appraisal of the materials during processing and consequently, erroneous filing or titling may have gone undetected.
