Northeastern Wisconsin Education Association Records, 1903-1957

Biography/History

The Northeastern Wisconsin Education Association was organized in 1892 under the name Northeastern Wisconsin Teachers Association. Its geographic area first included the nine counties north and east of Winnebago County, Wisconsin, but later was extended south and west as far as Columbia County. Membership was open to all persons interested in education.

The objectives of the Association as defined in their constitution are the professional improvement of its members and the advancement of educational interests throughout the state. To accomplish these goals, the Association holds annual meetings, sponsors conferences and demonstrations, and publishes a newsletter, The Northeasterner.
