Robert W. Dean Papers, 1958-1963

Scope and Content Note

The Dean collection consists of correspondence and a subject file including reports on the legislative committees and commissions on which Dean served from 1959 to 1963. The correspondence, concentrated in the years 1959 and 1961, consists primarily of letters from his constituents in the 29th District, in which they expressed their views on such issues as state life insurance expansion, the reorganization of the court system, the University of Wisconsin budget, reapportionment, and various welfare bills.

The legislative subject file consists of the reports of the commissions upon which Dean served, especially those of Water Resources and Highways. It also includes an alphabetical file on certain bills in 1959 and 1961; these include bills on religious training, municipal annexation, tax simplification, pesticides, public transportation for public and parochial school students, and reorganization of state government.
