Biography/History

Robert W. Dean was born in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, on July 20, 1923. He was a student at the University of Wisconsin from 1941 until his enlistment in the U. S. Army Air Force in 1943. He returned to school in 1946 and received his L1.D. in 1950. Until his election to the State Senate in 1959, he practiced law, presenting cases before the U. S. Treasury Department and the U. S. District Court of the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin. In the Wisconsin Senate he represented the 29th District, which includes Marathon, Menominee, and Shawano Counties. He served on the Highway Commission, the Retirement Research Council, and as vice-chairman of the Legislative Council's Water Resources Commission.
