Biography/History

The Board of Harbor Commissioners, a municipal organization, is a five-member board responsible for the Milwaukee public port facilities. The members are appointed for a term of three years by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council. The board is authorized to make plans for the improvement of all waterways within the city and to plan, construct, and operate facilities for aircraft. All plans are subject to approval or modification by the Common Council. The board also advises the mayor and Common Council with respect to transportation matters.
