Series: Publications and Editorial Services [Program Materials Department]
Biography/History: This department most likely grew out of the Research Department and eventually become the Program Materials Department Similar and related materials on publications are located here and with the Research Department files. After the close of the Research Department, Vera Dean headed the Publications Department when she became editor for the Headline Series and the Foreign Policy Bulletin (publication ends 1961), circa 1951. The Program Materials Department subsumes the roles of the Publications Department around 1960. Philip Van Slyck is the initial editor in charge of the Headline Series and the editor of the “Great Decisions” materials. Norman Jacobs succeeds Van Slyck as editor circa 1965.
