Biography/History

Paul A. Henningsen graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1964 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1968 from Lawrence University with a focus in government. He then attended Marquette University and earned his law degree in 1976. He was elected as the 10th District Milwaukee County Supervisor in 1977 and held that position until it expired in April of 1984. In 1983, he was elected as the City of Milwaukee 4th District Alderman in a special election to fill the remainder of Kevin O’Connor’s term when O’Connor resigned early. In April 1984 Henningsen was re-elected in a regular election for his first full term. During his tenure as an alderman, he was chair of the Common Council’s Zoning, Neighborhood and Development Committee. He was also president of the Westside Conversation Corp., which is a non-profit organization that assists with housing. He held his aldermanic position until his resignation in 2003 when he was convicted on federal mail fraud charges and sentenced to almost 3 years in prison. After being released he worked as a realtor. He passed away in 2016.
