Frank and Company Scrapbook, 1930-1942

Biography/History

Louis Frank (1820-1913) emigrated from Germany to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1848. He opened L. Frank & Son there, a small retail sausage shop, in 1852. By 1860 they began manufacturing sausage for wholesale and officially considered that year to be their true beginning. In 1875, Louis’ son Nathan (1848-1912) began working in the family business until his death. In 1918 the company reorganized and changed their name to Frank and Company. In 1919 Walter Frank (1879-1953?), grandson of Louis, became president.
