Polish National Alliance of the United States of North America. Lodge 1510: Records, 1912-1959

Biography/History

Lodge 1510 of the Polish National Alliance (Zwiazek Narodowy Polski), was organized in May 1912 as The Sons of Polish Pioneers. This latter group was accepted into the PNA on September 5, 1912. For many years following its founding, the lodge was open only to native born sons of Polish pioneers.

The lodge served as a cultural and mutual benefit organization for members. As such, the lodge sold life insurance to members, provided sick and death benefits, and attended and assisted at funerals of members. For many years during the 1930s and 1940s, the president of Lodge 1510 was Roman B. J. Kwasniewski, who collected the papers included in this collection. Kwasniewski carried on much of the lodge's correspondence, and wrote and delivered eulogies for deceased members. Lodge 1510 celebrated its silver jubilee in 1937.
