The City Club of Milwaukee was a civics minded organization established in 1909.
Their 1917 manual says, “The general purpose of the City Club of Milwaukee is to
give citizens an opportunity to combine and coordinate their efforts toward the
betterment of civic life”. The Club operated mainly by committees along with a board
of governors/directors and a paid secretary position. They had regular meetings and
sponsored conferences, programs and activities with the goal of educating their
members around the subjects of civics, citizenship and government. Leo Tiefenthaler
was well known local member and officer in this organization.
