Midvale Heights Community Association Records, 1954-1977

Biography/History

The Midvale Heights Community Association, Madison, Wisconsin, was founded in 1954 as a vehicle to deal with civic problems and to promote the recreational, educational, and social life of the community. The Association's members lived in an area bounded on the north by Mineral Point Road, on the east by Midvale Boulevard, on the south by Odana Road with later extensions beyond this in spots, and on the west by Hilltop Drive, later extended to Whitney Way.

Over the years, activities concerned the use of Midvale Boulevard as a truck route, vandalism, litter, the condition of streets and sidewalks, building bus shelters, and improving park facilities. Annually the organization conducted a health fund drive, participated in a July 4 celebration, and sponsored Christmas activities for children, dinners and dances for adults, and events such as bridge tournaments.
