Biography/History

The Greater Beloit Association of Commerce, a non-profit organization of business and professional people dedicated to furthering commercial and community enterprise in the Beloit area, was founded in 1927. Originally named the Beloit Commercial Club, the organization adopted its current name in 1960.

Among the Association's objectives are community development, business development, economic understanding, legislative action, and public relations. Through the years it has attempted to fulfill these responsibilities by promoting tourism and city planning, urging industries to relocate in Beloit, lobbying for tax reform, promoting highway planning beneficial to Beloit, and encouraging pride and respect in the city by means of community involvement projects. The organization played a large role in helping Beloit earn recognition as an “All-American City” in 1972 and is still pursuing its aims actively today.
