Perry Hauge Evangelical Lutheran Church Records, 1852-1973

Biography/History

Early Norwegian settlers of the Town of Perry, Dane County, Wisconsin, organized the Perry Hauge Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1852. In 1887 their original log church was abandoned as the congregation moved to a new building about two miles east. The old building and cemetery were neglected until 1926 when a committee was organized to restore the church and cemetery grounds. Committee members were elected from the congregation. About 1954 the congregation ceased to exist and preservation functions were then assumed by members of the Perry Lutheran Church. In 1966 the Perry Hauge Log Church Preservation Association was formally incorporated.
