Lebanon Baptist Church Records, 1849-1949

Biography/History

The Lebanon Baptist Church, located on Dodge County Trunk CW, south of Lebanon, Wisconsin, was founded in 1849 by the Reverend W. E. Grimm. Known first as the German Baptist Church, the congregation included members from Ashippun, Watertown, Concord, and other nearby areas. The church building was dedicated in 1866, in the 1890's, a Ladies Aid Society was organized, and a Youth Society was established later.

Gradually however, membership dwindled; in 1929, just 45 members were enrolled. The church survived to celebrate its centennial in April 1949 but ceased to function shortly after that.
