John Strange Papers, 1865-1935

Biography/History

John Strange was lieutenant governor of Wisconsin, 1909-1911. He first became prominent as a paper manufacturer, and was president of the John Strange Paper Company, the John Strange Pail Company, and the Stevens Point Pulp and Paper Company. He was active in Progressive Party politics, and in water power controversies centering in Neenah-Menasha. (More detailed biographical information appears at the beginning of the microfilm.)
