Campaigns/Elections, 1912-2012 Scope and Content Note: This series contains records from four main areas: general campaign information by year, clippings, ephemera and Socialist Party presidential campaigns. Much of this series focuses on Socialist campaign activity in the Milwaukee area but does include materials from the Party’s presidential campaigns. The general campaign information is arranged by year and it contains a variety of correspondence, reports, writings and articles mainly from local Milwaukee area campaigns and Socialist candidates running for election. The clippings are also arranged by year with a few folders focused on specific individuals. Both general campaign and clippings materials are focused on the 1920s-1950s. Ephemera materials consist of Socialist candidate posters, fliers, campaign cards and buttons. There are local Milwaukee area candidates as well as some presidential or general Socialist materials. The two campaigns with the most records are Frank Zeidler’s 1976 presidential campaign and David McReynolds’ 1980 presidential campaign. Those areas include correspondence, reports, financial records, candidate schedules, writings and publications. There is a small section on Norm Thomas’ presidential campaign and Frank Zeidler’s Milwaukee mayoral campaigns. There are also some general promotional blank ballots, biographical sketches, reports, and a Wisconsin Progressive Party scrapbook.
