Administrative/Restriction Information
Access to the phonograph records is restricted; researchers must use the digital
access copy. There are no other access restrictions on the materials. The
collection is open to all in accordance with state law. The public may view
Local History Manuscript Collections by appointment at the Central Library. To
request an in-person appointment, create/login to your Special Collections Account. If you have any questions, please
contact the Archives and Special Collections Department at mplarchives@milwaukee.gov.
The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel,
privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection
(Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).
In 1965, the Socialist Party – Social Democratic Federation of Wisconsin and the
Milwaukee County Central Committee made a large donation of their records. There
was also a donation of records by the Socialist Party, USA in 1984. Additional
materials were donated by Frank Zeidler & his family from roughly 1975 thru
2019. Materials were accessioned as Local History Manuscripts.
Initial donation processed by Paul Woehrman, 1976. In 2021, several single folder
socialist related collections were merged and processed along with other post
