repair of railroad bridges, culverts and track at various locations. These folders
include correspondence, inspection reports, repair expenditures, maps, drawings, and
photographs taken during inspections. Additionally, there are also materials
relating to the abandonment of Milwaukee Road lines during the 1980s. Highway
abandonment records include notices of line abandonments sent to different counties
and the impact on railroad-highway crossings; property abandonments include records
on the sale and removal of depots and other railroad buildings, along with the sale
of land; and track abandonment records include materials of the sale and removal of
bridges, culverts, and track along abandoned lines. Also included are materials on
expansion and consolidation, core property listings, and other general files.
