National Council for Universal and Unconditional Amnesty Records, 1964-1978

Scope and Content Note

The collection includes correspondence, newsletters, minutes, publications, financial materials, publicity, photographs, and audio recordings. Also included are some records from Americans for Amnesty (AFA) and Louisa Ransom, its founder. AFA merged with the NCUUA in 1975 and Ransom and Irma Zigas were co-directors of the organization until the spring of 1977. The materials are arranged into two series: National Council for Unconditional and Universal Amnesty Files and Americans for Amnesty Files. The bulk dates for the collection are 1971-1978 with some background materials dated as early as 1964.
