Part 2 (M2010-082): Additions, 1935-1986: Selected photographs available online: Wisconsin to the Matanuska Valley, Alaska Territory - Image Gallery Essay1.1 cubic feet (1 records carton and 1 oversize folder), and 354 photographs and 406 negatives (1 archives box) : Additions to the Arville Schaleben papers, consisting primarily of material from the series he wrote and photographed for the Milwaukee Journal in 1935 chronicling the initial journey and settlement of families from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan who were moved to the Matanuska Valley, Alaska, as part of a New Deal project; these materials were used by a film company which produced a documentary film about the settlement titled Alaska Far Away.
