Elizabeth Bardwell Papers, 1935-2002

Scope and Content Note

The bulk of the collection is from the 1970s and early 1980s and consists of Bardwell's research materials for More is Less, and records of her environmental campaigns and organizations. The collection also contains newspaper articles and manuscripts by Bardwell, and details other activities, such as traveling to Brazil (1941), entertaining Mrs. Ladybird Johnson in Madison (1967), working with the Uplands Art Council, and assisting Jimmy Carter's 1976 presidential campaign. Also included are two videotapes documenting the activities of the Greenbelt Network, which she formed in 1986 to limit urban sprawl around Madison, and three home movies of the Bardwell family.
