The bulk of this collection documents the Department’s involvement with other
Milwaukee Road departments while serving as a liaison between management and
Milwaukee Road employees. Correspondence for this dates back to the early 1970s and
culminates in the formation of a Labor-Management Action Group in the early 1980s.
Among the important issues discussed are employee benefits, job descriptions, social
counseling program, and wage reductions. The majority of the papers in this
collection appear to have originated from Larry Harrington, who was appointed
Vice-President of the Labor Relations and Personnel Department January 1, 1968, and
largely date from this era as well. Contains correspondence, reports and studies,
materials on mergers with other railroads and the effect on employees, various job
descriptions, and other employee information.
