Kenosha County (Wis.). Superintendent of Schools: Annual Reports of School Districts, 1916-1964

Scope and Content Note

Records consist of the Annual Report of School Districts, School Census, and Teachers' Reports for high schools and rural and graded schools in Kenosha County. The Annual Report of School Districts was required to be filed with the county Superintendent of Schools by the clerk of each school district. Reports provide school census statistics, enrollment and attendance information, financial and audit statements, and names of teachers employed. Note: Annual Reports for 1926 are missing.

School Census forms are physically filed with the Annual Reports of School Districts. These forms are required by statute to show the number of persons less than twenty years of age residing in the school district on the 30th of June. The census reports include the names of children under twenty years old, age, date of birth, distance from the schoolhouse, type of school attended, whether public or private, and the names and addresses of parents or other persons with whom the children live.

Teachers' Annual Reports are prepared by the teacher and filed with the county Superintendent of Schools. These reports contain enrollment and attendance information, details about the particular school, certificates held by employed teachers and their tenure and experience.
