George Edwin Taylor was a Black American who lived 1857-1925 and ran as a candidate for president of the United States in 1904 as a member of the National Negro Liberty Party. Taylor lived in La Crosse, Wisconsin from 1865 through 1891, attending schools and becoming a journalist and labor/political activist. Taylor was the owner and editor of the newspaper
