Lee W. Metzner Papers, 1882-1985

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of correspondence, Metzner's writings, genealogical materials, journals, and photographs. The correspondence (1882-1980) consists of letters in response to Metzner's articles in The Kewaunee Enterprise, miscellaneous business correspondence, and personal letters to family and friends. His writings principally consist of articles written for The Kewaunee Enterprise concentrating on the early pioneer days in Kewaunee as well as a history of Casco. The genealogical materials consist of personal ephemera such as wedding documents and report cards as well as a genealogy of the Metzner family, a family history told by Lee Metzner, and obituaries. The journals (1938-1964, some gaps) were written in almost daily by Metzner and describe his daily activities, his projects, and current events. Also included is one travel journal from Metzner's European trip taken in the summer of 1964. Finally, there are photographs which include images from his history of Casco as well as photographs of family, friends, tombstones, buildings, and other miscellaneous images in and around the Casco area.
